Antique Tour

Warren County has a lot of history -- some of which is for sale! Monmouth has a wealth of beautiful historic homes and businesses and is home to several antique stores.
 
First stop: The Pottery Barn! Located just north of the junction of US 34 and Highway 67. The pottery barn is on the right hand side of North 67.
 
While the Pottery Barn does not have antique pottery for sale they do have a display of the highly collectible Antique Western Stoneware and of course the new stoneware that will soon become collectors items.
 
 
Third Stop: The Brick House. This shop is located on the corner of North Main and franklin.
 
This lovely shop located in an Italianate brick home built in the 1880s is a delight. The high ceilings, hard wood floors, and original woodwork make a stunning backdrop for the beautiful antiques they display. Be sure to check out the impressive display of Abingdon pottery and Western Stoneware.
 
 
2nd Stop: Maple City Junction -- located right across the street from the Pottery Barn on North 67.
 
If you are looking for antique hats, doorknobs, bottles or Western Stoneware you can probably find it here.
 
 
Fourth Stop: a delicious lunch at Monmouth Soda Works! Located south of the square on south 1st street this restaurant is a charming location for lunch.
 
Monmouth Soda Works is a step back in time and a great meal as well! Visit the upstairs for a trip through a mini-museum. There are antiques and a one room school house on the second floor. Then dine in an old style diner complete with a long bar and wooden booths!
 
 
5th Stop: After Lunch take a short stroll to O’Fleeting Time located on the corner of South 1st street and 1st ave.
 
This adorable little shop is the perfect combination of old and new elegance. If you are looking for something to dress up a room this is the spot!
 
 
6th Stop. The Martin House located on East Broadway just east of the Presbyterian church at the corner of 2nd street and East Broadway.
 
This Italianate home was built in 1875 and has been lovingly restored by local resident George Morris. Morris is a member of the International Society of
Appraisers and his love of antiques shows in the lengths he has gone to make the home as authentic as possible with furnishings, draperies, and even wallpaper in a Victorian style. If you love antiques and historical architecture this home is a must see. Call ahead and make an appointment to visit at 309-734-4577.
 
 
7th Stop: After a day of shopping and a visit to the Martin House continue the elegance of an earlier time by a gourmet meal at Cerar’s Barnstormer. Located on West Broadway near the intersection with highway 67.
 
This restaurant not only has delicious food but pays tribute to Monmouth’s past as a popular place for early pilots or barnstormers such as Charles Lindbergh
